Quality Assurance Co-ordinator for Hire

Customer

An Aberdeen-based large, independent provider of flow measurement and metering services for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries worldwide; also providing design, development and configuration of process performance information at their offices in Teesside.

The Task

Facilitators was initially asked to assist the client to attain ISO 9001:2000 certification. We were then asked to help maintain the certification and coordinate quality related activities across the client organisation.

Our Approach

Initially we developed the client's quality management system to ensure that it met the requirements of ISO 9001:2000. The client was guided through the implementation of the system culminating in successful third party accredited certification. Liaising with the assessment body and representing the client at the initial and subsequent audits to maintain the certification was a part of the process.

The hired Quality Assurance Coordinator reported to the Operations Director who set the objectives and tasks to be achieved with a focus on process improvements.  Tasks undertaken included:

  • Enhancing the organisation's procedures for purchasing and maintaining their supplier assessments
  • Assisting with the quality assurance aspects of tender responses
  • Preparing for audits by the client's clients
  • Coordinating quality management requirements for the client's SVQ programme
  • Assisting with meeting trade compliance requirements.

The Result

  • The client achieved and maintained their external certifications, demonstrating compliance with their customers quality requirements.
  • Improvements and initiatives were coordinated and integrated into the client's documented quality management system ensuring that work for customers was carried out to consistently high standards.
  • Customer satisfaction levels were further enhanced. One such customer comments: "(their) standards of performance are faultless."
