Facilitators UK Acquires Scottish Quality Business In Six Figure Deal

2 March 2006

Corporate support consultancy, Facilitators UK, has announced the acquisition of Quality Management Scotland (QMS), from Empire HR in a six figure deal as part of the company’s expansion plan.

The deal will see Aberdeen based Facilitators UK take over a client base of 200 businesses, based throughout the UK but mainly in the central belt of Scotland, while the QMS team of specialists will join the Facilitators UK community of consultants. QMS will continue to operate as a division of Facilitators UK, adding quality management consultancy to their portfolio of services.

Bob Kelley, a partner of Facilitators UK, will head up the new division. He commented: "I am delighted that Facilitators UK has successfully acquired QMS. For some time we have been looking to develop and expand our business, particularly in the central belt. The opportunity to take over QMS was too good to overlook and will significantly strengthen our service offering in Scotland."

As a corporate support consultancy, Facilitators UK helps client organisations improve their performance. The company uses its expertise to help clients deliver business improvements through more effective people, operations and strategy. Mr Kelley explains how the acquisition augments and integrates Facilitators' current services:

"QMS is widely recognised, particularly in the central belt, for its quality and environmental systems consultancy services. This complements the services that Facilitators UK already provides and indeed the acquisition is a real door opener in terms of quality auditing. In the future we can see many synergies with our current services, not least looking at the opportunity to offer a one stop service covering, for example ISO, EFQM and Investors in People. One of the key drivers behind the acquisition was the ability to add value to our current clients and of course our strengthened and integrated service offering will also benefit QMS clients."

Mr Kelley went on to outline other benefits: "Not only will the acquisition see Facilitators UK expand the business and provide visibility in the central belt, but it will also see us providing services outwith the oil and gas industry. Although that sector remains very much key to our business, we are keen to use our considerable experience in other service sectors."

"Facilitators UK continues to strengthen and grow. In 2002 our turnover was around the £400,000 mark. In 2005 we cleared £1.2million. Our success over the last few years has been excellent and the deal to acquire QMS marks another great stride forward. We will continue to look for opportunities to strengthen Facilitators UK and add value for clients. These are exciting times for the company," concluded Mr Kelley.

Meanwhile, managing director of Empire HR, Graham McWilliam said, "We have a strong partnership with Facilitators UK and we have developed an understanding that will see us work together in the future. Our combined resource of expertise and experience makes for a very good working relationship. Selling QMS to Facilitators UK will allow us to concentrate solely on providing reliable HR and employment law advice to our clients."
